Activity among elderly citizens
The VELUX FOUNDATION’s programme for elderly citizens, which was launched in 2009, originates in one of the articles of the Foundation statutes, which conveys the founder’s wish to support older people in continuing to lead an active life on retiring from formal employment. By means of a more proactive outreach information campaign targeting activity centres for senior citizens, the intention is to appeal to a broad group of older persons and, in so doing, generate a greater volume of unsolicited applications than received to date. One of the objects is to mobilise older people with extensive social resources to engage in voluntary, unpaid activities for the benefit of their less resourceful peers.
